Hi Friends, old and new. I too look forward to writing and reading with you.
I haven't written many new poems, but have done a heck of a lot of rewriting of old material. Its fun to re-craft old poems, ideally strengthening them. As Billy Collins says, "no poems are finished, just abandoned."
Reading wise I stay current with Writers Almanac and Rattle, but haven't read much poetry (hence one of the benefits of this class). I too loved Pachinko - a really good read. Try The Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata. Very odd, but good.
Going back to Michner can be fun. Read Sayonara before a trip to Japan this fall. Not his greatest but sure takes you back.
Still struggling to get myself organized enough to submit. A fellow poet, Pat Goodman and I will be co-teaching a class this term, using Diane Lockward's latest craft book The Practicing Poet. Lots of tips and prompts. Good for class discussion and workshopping.
That's all, folks!
