Hi Everyone,
I'm about a week behind getting started, but ready to go now. I'm a writer and writing coach in metro Detroit, which means I write a lot and help other people with their writing projects. What am I reading? I just finished two novels - Pachinko by Min Jin Lee (fascinating) and The Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer (engaging but predictable). Now I'm working on a collection of Adrienne Rich's essays (Essential Essays: Culture, Politics, and the Art of Poetry) and Winner Takes All by Anand Giridharadas. I suspect I'll be reading those two off and on for many weeks. I've also recently become reacquainted the Academy of American Poets "Poem a Day" subscription (https://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poem-day), so a new poem lands in my inbox every morning. I'm looking forward to Natasha Tretheway's newest book, Monument: poems new and selected. And I also love One Story. The latest one is still in its envelope by my bed. If you're not familiar with One Story, they send you a tiny booklet in the mail each month with one short story. Some are brand new writers, others are more established.
I have not been writing much poetry lately... mostly essays and blog articles. So it's time to get back to the poems. Two of my children are in college at the University of Michigan, and one is a high school sophomore. I also have one husband and one dog. Looking forward to reading, writing and discussing with all of you.
If that's not enough, you can learn more about me on my company website (wowwritingworkshop.com) or my blog (susanknoppow.wordpresss.com).
