This class is just what I need right now. Thanks to previous workshops I feel that my poetry has, after a few steps back, taken a leap into a new way of thinking about things and trying new craft techniques and working on details and polishing. I am just beginning to get a few things published and this reaffirms the value of regular hard work and for the first time I am actually beginning to think of myself as a poet. The thing about that is, it means deeper commitment and more work. I've been reading around in "The Poets Laureate Anthology" edited by Elizabeth Schmidt and also "The Poem I Turn To" (actors & directors present poetry that inspires them) edited by Jason Shinder. On my table waiting to be read is "Taking the Arrow Out of the Heart" by Alice Walker.

I think I should read some of these books. The Shinder sounds especially interesting.
